Taking out a 24,000 dollar loan in 1979, founder Gary Adams created The Taylormade Golf Company. The former Golf equipment salesman, rented out a 6,000 square foot building and took on two further employees to help him on his venture. He started out with the innovative product, a 12 degree driver cast of stainless steel.
When it came to looks, sound and most importantly performance, this metal wood was far superior to any wooden wood that came before. Offering more forgiveness on players mis-hits due to its perimeter weighting. And giving a lower centre of gravity allowing players to hit the ball with a great launch with ease. Gary Adams goal was, as a son of a former Golf professional, to produce and provide Golf Clubs that true golfers perceived as an authentic Golf Club. Yet combining innovation of the technology at the time. Whilst doing this he maintained his passion for the game and pledged to be competitive, working hard to establish the brand and allow it to grow.
And the same values started by Gary Adams are still practiced today in the making, designing and manufacturing of all of Taylormade's Golfing products. Covering all aspects of the Golf equipment industry, from Taylormade irons to the Taylormade slim Driver. Taylormade has become a brand that is held in high regard amongst the Pros and seasoned Golfers since 1979.
